Threespot Damselfish - Stegastes planifrons, Family: Damselfish - Pomacentridae1
It looks cute and innocent, but this was the first fish to ever bite me. Not to worry, though, as it was only about 3 inches in size. Damselfish are fierce protectors of their section of reef and, apparently, I was trespassing.
"Habitat & Behavior: Inhabit reef tops in areas of algae growth. Territorial; pugnaciously guard relatively large areas, and rapidly dart about, nipping and chasing away intruders, regardless of size."1
